Xiaomi announces HyperOS launch in India for select devices

Xiaomi, the leading smartphone maker in India, has confirmed that it will start rolling out its new operating system, HyperOS, in India from January 2024. HyperOS is a human-centric system that promises to deliver superior performance, AI features, cross-device connectivity, and robust privacy measures.


HyperOS is an improvement over Xiaomi’s previous UI, MIUI, which has been used by millions of Xiaomi, Redmi, and Poco users worldwide. HyperOS is based on Android 14, the latest version of Google’s mobile operating system. It also incorporates Xiaomi Vela, an open-source system that powers Xiaomi’s smart devices, such as cars and home products.

According to Xiaomi, HyperOS offers a new user interface that is comfortable, fluid, and diverse. It supports complex rendering, dynamic glass, and high-quality materials to create stunning visual effects. It also adapts to different screen sizes, languages, and window shapes, enabling better multitasking and productivity.

HyperOS also features HyperConnect, a technology that allows users to control all their connected devices from anywhere. HyperMind AI is another key component of HyperOS, which enables devices to learn user needs and provide proactive intelligence. HyperOS also ensures end-to-end security with its self-developed TEE (Trusted Execution Environment) and encryption mechanisms.


Xiaomi has announced that HyperOS will be available for nine devices, including Xiaomi 13 Ultra, Redmi Note 12, Xiaomi Pad 6, and Poco F5. The first two devices to receive the HyperOS update in India will be Xiaomi 13 Pro and Xiaomi Pad 6, starting from this month. Xiaomi’s CMO in India has hinted that 2024 will be a significant year for the company, with more exciting developments coming up.
