Microsoft has announced a new feature for its keyboards: a dedicated PC button that lets users quickly access their computer settings and functions. The PC button, which is located next to the Windows logo key, is designed to make it easier for users to customize and optimize their PC experience.
According to Microsoft, the PC button can be used to perform various tasks, such as:Opening the Settings app, where users can adjust their system preferences, update their software, manage their devices, and more.
Launching the Power menu, where users can shut down, restart, or sleep their PC, or switch to a different user account.
Accessing the Troubleshoot menu, where users can run diagnostics, restore their PC, or boot into safe mode.
Opening the Device Manager, where users can view and manage their hardware components, such as drivers, monitors, keyboards, and mice.
Launching the Task Manager, where users can monitor their PC performance, close unresponsive apps, and manage their startup programs.
The PC button is compatible with Windows 11 and Windows 10, and can be customized to perform different actions depending on the user’s preference. Users can also assign keyboard shortcuts to the PC button, such as PC + F to open File Explorer, or PC + S to open Search.
Microsoft said that the PC button is part of its vision to make Windows more user-friendly and intuitive, and to empower users to get the most out of their PC. The PC button will be available on select Microsoft keyboards starting from January 2024.
